This is the altered poker chip I made for a swap due YESTERDAY! I finally finished it...sorry JoAnne aka takeabreak!
It is also my first altered key attempt! Poor JoAnne...she's getting all the firsts! The key has cool numbers on it and the back has lettering on it...it's topped with a miniature poker chip - alcohol inked and stamped...with a vintage button and a swarovski crystal that sparkles like the sun!
Whew!

Day 887 of 365 Again.
Steph finally got her luggage late last night, so we decided today would be our big experience Vegas day.
But first we sat through a timeshare presntation so that we could get breakfast, complimentary tickets to another show, and a free dinner at this nice buffet they have here. We didn't buy a timeshare, but steph did decideshe wanted to sign up for their trial program. Which basically is their last ditch attempt to get us to buy a timeshare, by letting us use one in the next year for a week. Cost us a few hundred, but we'd easily spend that on a vacation somewhere anyway. Essentially we just made a open reservation at a resort somewhere.
After that, I went and played in a poker tournament. 19 players. I came in second, which is pretty good and I made a few hundred dollars out of my $80 buy-in, so not so bad. Might even play in one again tomorrow, just for kicks.
Then it was off to dinner, using our free reservations. Same buffet as yesterday, and I probably put on yet another 20 pounds. Dieting and exercise are definitely in my future.
After dinner, Steph wanted to try gambling. First we spent some time at the poker machines. Steph wanted to practice calculating odds, and nickel poker is as good a way to do that as any. I think she spent $2 in an hour and a half or so and got two free beers. I ended up I think $5 down and drank four beers. Good enough for me. I have the general opinion that the right way to play slots or video poker is to make sure that you drink more in complimentary beverages than you'd be able to buy for the same amount if you were paying for drinks. Four Newcastles probably would have run me $16 in a bar back home and maybe $24 here, so $5 is a pretty good deal.
After that it was off to the Pleasure Pit, which is really the theme of this photo. I swear I didn't know about this when I booked the hotel. So the Aladdin was the first hotel I ever stayed in in Vegas, like 13 or 14 years ago. They knocked it down to rebuild it around the turn of the century, but I hadn't had the chance to come back. They sold it to Planet Hollywood and renamed it. It's gotten good reviews, so when Steph and I decided to come here, I decided to book it.
So the new Planet Hollywood is all about being hip and cool. Attracting the beautiful people. You know, like myself. What's the best way to get someone like me to come to your casino? Why not hire a bunch of hot girls as dealers and make them wear lingerie and fishnets? And while you're at it, put a couple stripper poles behind the tables and toss some go-go dancers up there for people to ogle while they bet.
*snif* It's like being home.
